Lectio Divina: Taking a Deep Dive Into the Scriptures

A Contemplative Bible Practice

Requirements:

  • Bring your Bible.
  • Participate in Lectio Divina throughout the week in preparation for class.
  • Bring something to journal in.

What is Lectio Divina?

Lectio Divina (Divine Reading) is a traditional Christian practice of prayer and meditation. It is not a typical Bible study but a contemplative approach to reading short passages of sacred text.


Key Features:

  • Involves reading, reflection, and response to Scripture.
  • Encourages seeing the Bible as the living word of God.
  • Helps participants be open to God’s presence in daily life.

Scriptures:

The class will follow the 2025 Lectionary of the United Methodist Church.
